Recipes for your own in-home spa.

Bath teas are one of the simplest and most inexpensive ways to give yourself a special body treat.

Using high quality herbs is essential to making a high quality bath tea, so don't cheat yourself. One of the reasons so many people pooh-pooh herbs is because they don't really give them a chance to do their work. For instance, most herbal treatments take months to take hold, but last a lifetime when done properly.

Bath teas, however, are herbal instant gratification; they're blissful, sensual and they make you feel oh, so sexy.

Bath Tea Recipe #1
2 oz. lavender buds
1 oz. rosemary leaf
1 oz. thyme leaf
1 oz. garden sage leaf
1 oz. basil leaf

Almost sounds like we're preparing a turkey dinner, doesn't it?

This is a lot of tea, but you need only use an ounce to an ounce-and-a-half to get the full therapeutic benefit, which means you've got 5 or 6 really nice baths for a few cents each.

Fill a square of muslin or clean cotton cloth with an ounce or so of mixed bath tea, tie it closed with ribbon, heavy string or hemp rope (make sure there's no way your herbs will spill into the tub), then heat a quart of water to boiling, turn off the heat, drop in the bag and allow it to steep for about 15 minutes. Run your bath -- make it warm, not hot or cold -- pour in the tea water along with the tea bag and step in for a luxurious bath.

For a soothing salt soak, add 1 or 2 cups of sea salts to this blend, skip the steeping part, and just toss in a warm tub of water.

The Good Stuff

Natural Body Care Ingredients & What They Can Do For You

Rhassoul Clay
Rhassoul clay is a 100% natural, organic clay mined from the mountains of Morocco -- it is rich in minerals and has wonderful skincare qualities -- as a facial mask it leaves skin radiant and clean, clean, clean! It can also be used as a natural shampoo, cleansing the hair and scalp without stripping the hair of its natural oils. As an ingredient in soap, it can be used to exfoliate and smooth the skin.

Rooibos (roy-boss)
Rooibos is a red tea from Southern Africa --it is a natural age-defying anti-oxidant and is full of vitamin C and minerals. Its healing properties include its use as a cancer preventative and immunity booser, helping to fight bacteria and viruses.

Rose
The ancient Turks called rose oil the Blood of Venus (Aphrodite) -- well known for its love inducing qualities, rose oil also has many great skincare benefits -- it helps to reduce small capillaries in the skin (roseacea), and helps soothe and heal dry skin. Rose is a great wrinkle reducer and cell regenerator. Its aromatherapeutic qualities are well documented and are said to help alleviate depression & stress and lift the spirits. Rose is also called the Queen of Flowers.
